Cooling System Maintenance

Recommended Maintenance Check List – VIRGA™ and BOREAS® Systems
Monthly or As Needed
- Inspect fin faces and remove debris, dirt or scale buildup
- Rotate fans for at least five minutes
- Ensure spray nozzle orifices are clear and directed toward coils (VIRGA only)
Semi-Annual
- Clean coils with low pH fin cleaner
- Following proper lockout/tagout procedures, inspect the controls enclosure for any loose wire connections
- Visually inspect fluid connections for leaks
- Check temperature sensor for accuracy
- Measure and record fan motor running current
- Check fan motors for bearing wear or damage
- Ensure motor mounts and pipe fittings are secure
Preparation for Warm Weather/Spray Season
- Inspect fin faces and remove debris, dirt or scale buildup
- Visually inspect fluid connections for leaks
- Ensure spray nozzle orifices are clear and directed toward coils (VIRGA only)
- Open city water valve to enable spray (VIRGA only)
- Test spray water source for pH, hardness, and total dissolved solids (VIRGA only)
Preparation for Winter Weather
- Check glycol concentration to ensure adequate freeze protection
- Winterize spray piping by shutting off city water and draining pipes (VIRGA only)
- Ensure city water heat trace is powered and working as expected (VIRGA only)
